Narrative:

While flying into savanna; georgia on the GPS 28 approach; I had to descend from 8;000 to 2;500 at nearly 2;000 feet per minute. I arrived at the IAF just as I reached 2;500 feet and as soon as I turned inbound and got established on the glide slope; I broke out with the runway in sight. Unfortunately; I was not able to arrest the descent rate and sank well below the glide slope. With the runway in sight; I stopped the descent and continued on until I was once again on the glide slope. During this time; I got a call from the tower advising me of an obstacle which I had in sight and further advising me that he had an altitude alert on me. The rest of the approach and landing was uneventful.
