Narrative:

On the wynde arrival into ord we saw that we were following an aircraft and that we were slowly catching them according to relative position on TCAS. When we were approximately 7-10 miles behind him; our aircraft rolled aggressively to the left. The aircraft bank angle went to 60 degrees and the autopilot disconnected. I stopped the bank and returned the aircraft to level flight and re-engaged the autopilot. When we queried ATC about the aircraft type we were following they told us a B757. We were never told this information before. In fact; the only controller to let us know was ord tower when we checked on for the visual approach. The rest of the flight was uneventful.
