Narrative:

I received a clearance from cleareance delivery to taxi from an FBO located at the northeast end of taxiway U beside runway 23/5. I contacted ground and said I was ready to taxi from FBO and was cleared to runway 29 for takeoff via taxiway and was told to readback all 'hold' directives. The ground controller was difficult to understand and I had to ask controller to repeat their instructions several times. The controller talked fast; with low volume and seemed to mumble their words. I taxied on to taxiway U via ff. I was taxing via U which is depicted on the airport diagram [al-89 (FAA)] as being parallel to runway 23/5. I keep a 8.5' x 11' copy of the airport diagram in my cockpit for ready reference and I had it in my hand. Approaching taxiway a perpendicularly; I noticed that the yellow taxi line made a 90 degree left turn away from runway 23/5 and went completely away from runway 29 that I was taxing to. Since I could see runway 29 directly ahead; I was confused. I figured I had made a mistake and had not heard the ground controller correctly. I proceeded directly ahead toward runway 29 crossing the hold line because I believed it was a hold line for another runway not in use at that time. I proceeded straight toward runway 29 and never saw a hold line. I stopped the aircraft approximately 125 feet from runway 29 on what I thought was taxiway U. I switched to tower frequency and told the tower that I was ready for takeoff on runway 29. After a short delay the tower told me to do a 180 and taxi back across the hold line. I did a 180 which put me back parallel to runway 23/5 and taxied way back to the hold line at taxiway a. Later I was cleared for takeoff. I now fully understand the taxiway for taking U to runway 29. However it is unlike any taxiway I have ever seen or heard of and it is not depicted on the official FAA airport diagram. I will never make that mistake again; but I fear others may do so in the future. It needs to be shown on the airport diagram. Also; since I frequently read about runway incursions (I did not make one); I would think that the ground controller position is important and should be operated by senior controllers who can be clearly understood.

Title: A Pilot incurred CAE Runway 29 when he missed the hold short line on Taxiway U because it was displaced so far from Runway 29 that he did not associate it that Runway.
