Narrative:

During the takeoff roll; a level 3 'stab trim' alert was noted. The takeoff was aborted at approximately 90 KTS; we exited the runway and joined a parallel taxiway to assess the situation. I contacted maintenance control; and they elected to have us return to the gate. The failure was placed in the logbook; and we were sent to another aircraft 2 gates away. A take off warning horn and level 3 'stab trim' alert. Stab trim was set to the proper setting; however. Via #1 failure (evidently) I learned this after the fact.
