Narrative:

Yesterday I flew a be-76 with my instructor. I made a mistake that retracted the landing gear incorrectly and caused the nose gear to retract which caused damage to the airplane. Here are the things that I saw and what I did. I practiced some procedures in a simulator; and my last flight in a be-76 before that was on about 20 days ago. During that flight we did a take off from runway 27R with right downwind departure. We went to east practice area to practice some VFR maneuvers like power on/off stall; steep turn; and emergency decent. After we finished the maneuvers we went back to our home base to practice some traffic patterns. We were trying to do a touch and go on runway 27R. We said our request to tower and tower cleared us touch and go on 27R; and after touch and go right close traffic. We keep the airplane speed well at 85 KTS on short final and the airplane touched the ground just around the runway number. During the landing; I was still thinking about my maneuvers today. At this time my instructor was briefing me some things I should do for a touch and go. When my instructor mentioned about 'flap up'; I automatically turn the flap up and goes gear up; which I usually do when recover from the maneuvers. But I did not notice that this is a touch and go and not a recover from maneuver. After I noticed that the nose gear had been retracted; and the airplane stuck on the runway; and the nose of the airplane hit on the runway. Also the propellers on both engines hit the ground when they were still running and the airplane stopped on the runway after a few seconds touched the runway because of friction. During hitting the ground; the propeller was set full forward and mixture was rich; and throttle was almost idle. The propellers stop running after they hit the ground; and we smelled a little smoke when the airplane stopped on the runway; and we shut down both fuel selectors and fuel pumps and alternators; battery and ignitions; then we got out of the airplane. Then the people came from airport and the FBO to help us. I confirmed with my instructor; that when I put the flaps up I just put it on the neutral position and then my instructor did put the flaps in up position. I took the gear up when the throttle was almost idle. And this happened because I was still thinking about the maneuvers during landing and I never practiced a touch and go in be-76 before. So the above is what I did and what has happened about this incident. I think for training purpose; before the student does a touch and go on in an airplane with retractable landing gear the instructor can show the student one example or the student can practice touch and go in the simulator before going to flight to prevent this happening.

Title: A BE76 pilot; during instruction; raised the landing gear lever while intending to raise the flaps on a touch and go landing. The nose gear retracted which resulted in propeller strikes.
