Narrative:

Normal takeoff - flaps would not retract - returned to field - was asked by tower if any assistance was needed - assured them no assistance was needed - landed and reset flaps per poh - continued flight without incident. Situation is common with PC12 flap system - occurrence is sporadic and unpredictable. Tower had crash equipment waiting through no request from us.

Title: A PC12 Captain reported flaps failed to retract after takeoff after returning to the departure airport the flaps were re-set.

Narrative: Normal takeoff - flaps would not retract - returned to field - was asked by Tower if any assistance was needed - assured them no assistance was needed - landed and reset flaps per POH - continued flight without incident.
