Approach cleared us to 2;000 on initial approach; maintain 2;000; maintain heading until intercepting localizer; cleared ILS runway 6 bhm; contact tower. Reaching 2;000 and contacting tower; tower advised low altitude warning. We advised assigned altitude by ATC was 2;000. At this time aircraft was VMC with the field in sight. Tower questioned the altitude assignment. We verified altitude assignment of 2;000. No other conversation on the subject.
