Narrative:

Upon take-off approximately 10 seconds after gear retraction selection a gear disagree warning message was presented. The climb continued completing all after take checklist items. Continuing climb pilot flying took control of radios. Pilot not flying secured QRH and began performing QRH items. Coordination with ATC of a possible return to the departure airport was issued and vectors to stay near the departure airport until resolution of gear disagree QRH items. Pilot not flying called dispatch and company maintenance to discuss with them the events and a QRH item. After conferring with maintenance and performing all QRH items the decision was made to return to the departure airport in an emergency capacity (ATC notified) due to the nature of the event (landing gear). The gear indications showed three green down and locked indicators. The flight attendant was notified of our condition and was told that we were returning to the departure airport as a precaution. We gave her a best estimate of time and condition of the event. An announcement by the captain was given to the passengers explaining what we were going to do and the reason for the return. Transfer of controls was taken by the pilot in command for the landing on the longest runway. Airport rescue and fire fighters was requested and the landing was performed without further incident. Upon clearing the runway pilot in command asked airport rescue and fire fighters to check for any smoke or fire. The airport rescue and fire fighters checked aircraft using inferred heat equipment and notified crew that all signs looked normal. Aircraft then continued taxi to the gate and was met by maintenance.
