Narrative:
After completion of my walk around; I returned to the cockpit and started the APU. Within minutes the agent came to the cockpit to inform me that I had a fuel leak. I immediately went back outside and confirmed that there was; in fact; a rapid fuel leak from the belly of the aircraft. Because of the amount of fuel leaking I decided to evacuate the aircraft. This was done in the interest of safety. All exited through door 2L without incident. The fire and police department were standing by the aircraft. I notified dispatch and the flight office.
