Narrative:

My partner and I removed and installed the hydro-mechanical unit (hmu). While installing the hmu we had a hard time aligning the shaft of the hmu on the engine; so my partner spun the aircraft engine by installing the adapter on the ratchet. We got the hmu on and my partner installed the tubing while I installed the back nut on the back of the hmu. I got done first so I proceeded to install the adapter plate not knowing if he took the adapter out. Lack of communications contributed to this incident.
