Narrative:
While we were climbing the captain and I noticed the lights flicker. A few minutes later we noticed the rt gen drive and control EICAS messages. We ran the the checklist. After a discussion with dispatch; we decided that a return to our departure airport was the safest course of action.

Title: Wide body flight crew experienced a generator drive failure at FL340 and elected to return to their departure airport rather than continue across the Pacific.
Narrative: While we were climbing the Captain and I noticed the lights flicker. A few minutes later we noticed the RT GEN DRIVE and control EICAS messages. We ran the the checklist. After a discussion with Dispatch; we decided that a return to our departure airport was the safest course of action.
