Narrative:

During flight and after landing while taxing to parking the crew observed the cargo unlock lt on. After running the 'doors unlock in flight' QRH; the flight was continued and landed without further incidents. At the end of the flight a proper log book entry was made and then maintenance control contacted.then while the crew was getting familiar with the MEL; we discovered a door microswitch with several turns of speed tape on it; apparently to trick the switch by increasing its diameter. Moreover; several layer of speed tape were found by the crew at the door seal point of contact of the switch. Being unsure about the legality of repair; the flight crew decided to take pictures and send them to the director of safety and chief pilot for their review.

Title: An ATR-42 flight crew received a CARGO DOOR UNLOCK warning light that remained on until and after landing. Following a write-up and maintenance attention the crew found several layers of 'speed tape' applied to the involved microswitch and its mating surface on the fuselage. They were uncertain of the legality of the 'repair'; photographed it and forwarded the pictures to company safety officials and flight Management.
