Narrative:

A mechanic deferred mfd 2 but failed to fill out all of the required areas on the logbook; he just put the deferral in the corrective action area. The mechanic wrote that the deferral was done in accordance with with company procedures; but he did not pull; collar or label the circuit breaker. This failure was found out enroute to our next destination. Maintenance was notified and maintenance personnel at that station correctly finished the deferral and the previous mechanic met the plane upon our return and corrected/finished his logbook entries.

Title: While enroute on the subsequent leg; the Captain of an E-170 determined that the maintenance deferral of a malfunctioning MFD was not accomplished in compliance with the MEL.

Narrative: A Mechanic deferred MFD 2 but failed to fill out all of the required areas on the logbook; he just put the deferral in the corrective action area. The Mechanic wrote that the deferral was done IAW with company procedures; but he did not pull; collar or label the circuit breaker. This failure was found out enroute to our next destination. Maintenance was notified and maintenance personnel at that station correctly finished the deferral and the previous Mechanic met the plane upon our return and corrected/finished his logbook entries.
