Narrative:

I was working combined sectors with approximately 8 aircraft on 2 different frequencies. We had weather in the area. I got distracted and my attention got diverted. A PA32/G track was inhibited and did not autoflash to an adjacent approach control. The PA32 crossed the approach boundary. Approach called and gave me the option to point out the traffic or complete a hand off. I elected to point out the traffic but then rechecked the route and decided to complete the hand off through automation. They accepted the hand off and I switched the aircraft to approach control. This is a recurring event. We have an automation problem between our center and approach control. Often times we have to reroute the aircraft; amend the altitude and ARTS force the target to approach and hope that we can hand off the aircraft through automation. If that doesn't work we have to do a manual hand off. This increases the workload.
