Narrative:
Shanghai control directed us to climb to 8;900 meters. Passing through 8;000 meters; shanghai control requested us to stop climb at 8;100 meters. Aircraft overshot flight level assignment and leveled at 8;250 meters. Shanghai control questioned our altitude while the flying pilot intervened and descended to 8;100 meters.

Title: A widebody aircraft departing Shanghai leveled above their cleared flight level due to a late altitude change and some confusion related to metric flight level conversions.
Narrative: Shanghai Control directed us to climb to 8;900 meters. Passing through 8;000 meters; Shanghai Control requested us to stop climb at 8;100 meters. Aircraft overshot flight level assignment and leveled at 8;250 meters. Shanghai Control questioned our altitude while the flying pilot intervened and descended to 8;100 meters.
