Narrative:
While working the local 2 position; I cleared air carrier X to land on runway xxr. The local 1 controller shortly after coordinated the intersection to me behind his departure roll traffic; air carrier Y. The local 1 controller then cleared air carrier Y for immediate takeoff on runway yyr. Once I heard that; I stood up and looked over to see where air carrier Y was on the runway. I then realized that air carrier Y was not going to be through the intersection before air carrier X landed. The action to take in that situation was for me to send air carrier X around; but the supervisor at the time gave the order to let him land for safety. Air carrier X landed safely without incident. Recommendation; the use of lahso would have been a great tool to have in that situation as well as the go-around spacing tool.

Title: Tower Controller described a questionable operation between a landing and departure on runways that intersect at the very end of both; in which a Supervisor directed the reporter not to send the landing aircraft around.
