Narrative:

A B747 was en route ZZZZ and I called piarco center to coordinate the flight over 18n060w. The controller at piarco center said a couple of times that I was coming in weak and could not hear me too well; I could hear them loud and clear. She asked me to repeat the time; altitude; and air speed. I cannot recall if she read back the data or if she just said approved; but at the time we disconnected the call I was under the impression that piarco center had the correct data for this flight. I was relieved by another controller and developmental coming in to train and when I came back from break they had informed me that piarco center had called saying that the B747 had come over to them at FL380 and that they had shown the flight coordinated at FL360. The data on our end showed coordinated at FL380. Piarco center said that the difference in altitude was not a factor for them; but they were still having problems hearing us. Recommendation; I would recommend installing a better voice line between ZNY and piarco center since we are always having problems hearing them or visa versa. As you can see this weak phone line could have had catastrophic results; had piarco center had another aircraft close to the B747 at F380.
