Narrative:

For almost six years on the airbus; the only time I have used alternate brakes has been in the simulator. Now I have used them twice this month! The first was caused by a no. 1 tachometer and bscu (2) failure and [that] caused wheels one and three to lock upon touchdown. Autobrakes were not selected but shortly after landing we received ecams for an autobrake failure then for a bscu failure. On this second occurrence; my first officer selected autobrakes to med for strong crosswinds. Shortly after landing he advised we were not getting braking and manually applied the brakes. There was no ECAM but the gear page showed automatic brakes in amber and alt brakes in green. Although alternate brakes did have a different feel; there was no problem controlling or stopping the aircraft. (Although it would be more exciting in sna!) when I called in the gripe to maintenance; he said he was working another similar airbus brake problem.
