Narrative:

I reported flight path vector errors concerning the hgs 4000 on the new B737-800. I flew this aircraft today; and inputted the 9999 airport elevation correction as required per the bulletin. I flew the approach in ai mode. The fpv at 200 feet was superimposed exactly on the VASI; instead of on the runway. The same lateral displacement of the fpv continued to below fifty feet AGL until the fpv disappeared during the 'flare' mode. I need to point out that the bulletin indicates the error to be slightly displaced off of the runway centerline. In fact; with the correction; or 'software work-around'; the fpv; was; as I said; imposed over the VASI off the left side of the runway. I have heard from other pilots that the same thing occurs on other newer HUD aircraft. I have yet to fly a new jet in catii or catiii. I seriously doubt the low visibility certifiable of this HUD if the FAA was aware of the actual fpv image in the aircraft on an actual approach. This 'software' issue was supposed to be completed by the end of november.
