Narrative:

Pilot is an experienced (commercial-CFI) glider pilot. Recent flight time wa in glider which incorporates the wheel brake in the spoiler control (full spoiler gets full wheel brake). This glider however has a separate brake activator on the floor. After landing pilot applied full spoiler to stop (habit from other gliders) and or course got no braking action. Glider went off end of runway and struck wire fence. Broken windscreen and minor skin damage. Not classified as accident per far 830 (no structural damage, no injuries, etc). Causes: pilot got quick chkout based on experience. Method of operation at airport (short grass runway) is to land downwind for convenience of operation. Glider controls (brake) significantly different from majority of those available as rentals in USA.
