Narrative:

On the chins 6 arrival; cleared to hold as published. Flight attendant called with write ups and to report a child with a severe nose bleed. Holding at FL200 we were cleared to 17;000. Around the same time we were cleared out of the hold; just north of raddy right turn direct raddy then via remainder of the chinns 6; maintain 12;000 but slow to 250 KTS. In a right descending turn as we approached 15;000 and just prior to raddy; ATC called to confirm our altitude. He then re-cleared us to descend to and maintain 12;000. Then he let us know that he had wanted us to comply with the restrictions. The flight was completed without further events.

Title: Confronted with very high workloads; bad weather; holding patterns and a passenger with a problem; the flight crew of a B737-800 did not realize their clearance out of the holding pattern and resume the STAR included the admonition to comply with the charted crossing restrictions.
