Two mechanics were informed a down-line station had reported a B757-300 door 1-Left slide/raft d-ring was missing and the door assist bottle was empty. They had replaced the slide just prior to departure.

Narrative:
Crew log page reports door slide fell off. Slide ordered by swing shift [maintenance] crew and was told to install new slide. Replaced door slide at (1-Left) L1-door; reference (aircraft maintenance manual) amm chapter 25-66-01. Crew report at a down line station states that the d-ring was missing and the door assist bottle empty. I never looked at the door assist bottle and the d-ring was mistaken for another ring on the slide.

Narrative: Crew Log page reports door slide fell off. Slide ordered by swing shift [Maintenance] crew and was told to install new slide. Replaced door slide at (1-Left) L1-door; reference (Aircraft Maintenance Manual) AMM Chapter 25-66-01. Crew report at a down line station states that the D-Ring was missing and the Door Assist Bottle empty. I never looked at the Door Assist Bottle and the D-Ring was mistaken for another ring on the slide.
