Narrative:

I was the pilot in command of an aero commander on a routine VFR flight. About 23 miles from my destination I started to experiencs a partial loss of power in my right engine. There was also a noticable vibration with this loss of power. After careful consideration and in accordence with my poh emergency checklist I opted to feather and secure the right engine and land as soon as possible. At this time my destination was in my 12 o'clock and 9-10 miles while two other airports were 25 miles northeast and 28 miles west respectively. I opted for my destination even though it was unnattended and a turf airstrip. I was very familar and have several thousand landings there. I radio approach and made them aware of my situation and asked that if they did not hear from me telephonicly to call the athourities and make them aware of what might have happened. I didn't declare an emergency. I landed without event called; call approach and advised them that all was well. In retrospect I'm wondering if I did every thing correctly. Maybe landing at a controlled facility next time.
