Narrative:

Leaving gate after receiving salute and release; I put the taxi light on to begin my taxi out. No fewer than 3 vehicles went down the painted lane directly in front of me after I put the taxi light on. The first vehicle was coming from the front and the next two came in from the left wing rear side as we were on a 45 degree angle to the terminal. After the first guy just kept driving by I put on my landing lights in addition to the taxi lights to indicate I was attempting to move. Initial movement on the 757 is somewhat delayed until the engines spool up. To prevent jet blast damage we are restricted to our power applications in congested areas. After the first guy came by-he didn't seem to care or be cognizant of what his exposure to getting run over was. He just sort of looked the other way to get the lights out of his eyes without slowing down and just kept on going. I believe a cart train came by next as we were rolling from my left rear and then a solo tug came down road after I had put on every single external light on the airplane except for the strobes. The driver just kept coming which required me to stop short after I had just gotten the plane moving. By this time she (I think it was a she) was abeam of where the left engine was about to go and just seemed to be annoyed with the plane taxiing. Do the ramp people realize the risk they are exposing themselves to by doing this? I was so angry at that point that I got on the radio to ask the ramp to find the person and advise them of the risk of their actions. I believe I used the term moron but it was to emphasize the stupidity of the actions on the ramp there. Someone is going to get killed! How about we make tugs and any vehicles stop when a plane has a taxi light on at night and not pass that aircraft until it has either extinguished it's light or made it's turn out.
