Narrative:
Over wing slides were not armed for the first leg. It was detected before the second flight and we returned to the gate. [We usually are only] checking the slide arming on the 4 doors regularly checked; as the overwing slides are always armed (supposedly...). The fact that the overwing slides were not armed escaped the scan in our [original departure station]. Suggestions: include in the after start checklist (or before start) a check like; '6 slides- armed.'
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: An A320 flight crew reported operating the aircraft with the over wing exits not armed. The aircraft apparently was released from a heavy maintenance check and returned to service with the exits not armed.
