Narrative:

Over wing slides were not armed for the first leg. It was detected before the second flight and we returned to the gate. [We usually are only] checking the slide arming on the 4 doors regularly checked; as the overwing slides are always armed (supposedly...). The fact that the overwing slides were not armed escaped the scan in our [original departure station]. Suggestions: include in the after start checklist (or before start) a check like; '6 slides- armed.'
