Narrative:

Arrived at eau, 7/88, on regularly scheduled flight. Prior to our arrival an air show was in progress. It was temporarily halted for our arrival. We were cleared to overfly the runway to enter right downwind so as to avoid crowd. We did not intend to, or recall descending below 1000' AGL prior to being in a position to land. Apparently, because of the size of our aircraft relative to air show aircraft, an illusion was created that we were lower than 1000' AGL in the eye of the person who reported us at 400' AGL. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: the FAA is investigating the incident. First officer maintains they were not below 1000' in the pattern but said they did make a high speed run down the runway. GADO personnel reported the incident.

Narrative: ARRIVED AT EAU, 7/88, ON REGULARLY SCHEDULED FLT. PRIOR TO OUR ARR AN AIR SHOW WAS IN PROGRESS. IT WAS TEMPORARILY HALTED FOR OUR ARR. WE WERE CLRED TO OVERFLY THE RWY TO ENTER RIGHT DOWNWIND SO AS TO AVOID CROWD. WE DID NOT INTEND TO, OR RECALL DSNDING BELOW 1000' AGL PRIOR TO BEING IN A POS TO LAND. APPARENTLY, BECAUSE OF THE SIZE OF OUR ACFT RELATIVE TO AIR SHOW ACFT, AN ILLUSION WAS CREATED THAT WE WERE LOWER THAN 1000' AGL IN THE EYE OF THE PERSON WHO RPTED US AT 400' AGL. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: THE FAA IS INVESTIGATING THE INCIDENT. F/O MAINTAINS THEY WERE NOT BELOW 1000' IN THE PATTERN BUT SAID THEY DID MAKE A HIGH SPD RUN DOWN THE RWY. GADO PERSONNEL RPTED THE INCIDENT.
