Narrative:

Yesterday; I learned that I may have committed an far violation; in addition to a company policy violation. On approximately four or five occasions; I used a usb port connected to the aircraft's electronic flight bag (efb) to charge my cellphone. On each occasion; I plugged my phone's charging cable into one of the efb's usb ports. I then left the phone in a secure place where it would not fall or otherwise get damaged. I was completely unaware that my actions could have any effect on the efb whatsoever. I also wasn't aware that my actions were possibly contrary to the far's. On each occasion; I left the phone alone after it began charging. I never felt that charging the phone had any effect whatsoever on the safe operation of the aircraft; or on the performance of my duties. Again; the phone was left alone while charging. I have since been notified by my company that the efb's usb ports are for maintenance use only. I will comply with that instruction.
