Narrative:

Our takeoff was on runway 5L and shortly after raising the landing gear and at approximately 500' AGL, the #2 engine fire warning light illuminated and the fire bell sounded. In accordance with the emergency engine fire checklist, we pulled the #2 fire handle. The engine shut down and we fired the first fire bottle. The fire warning light then went out. The control tower was advised of our emergency and we entered a left downwind pattern for runway 5L. Upon landing the fire equipment was at the runway. The tower advised us that there was no fire. Company maintenance was flown into knoxville and no evidence of fire was found. A fire detection loop was found worn and was replaced.
