Narrative:

I landed at 11:15 pm and got to the hotel about midnight. I couldn't sleep until around 2 am. I had a scheduled 10:40 hour rest. I woke up and felt exhausted due to lack of sleep. I usually work morning trips and do not bid or work late trips because I'm an early sleeper and early riser. The circadian change to my trip threw me for a loop. To help me sleep I use sleeping pills to get adequate rest. However; I didn't this time because I didn't have enough time to get the drug out of my system. I was scheduled for a 12-13 hour duty day with 7 legs and no breaks. I was late for my van pick up and had fallen back to sleep in my room only to be woken up by housekeeping staff. My captain was on his way to my room. I called in sick to crew scheduling and advised the inflight supervisors.
