Narrative:

On the visual to 28R; we were told that a brasilia was turning left base to final 28L. We reported him in sight and were cleared to continue the visual. Approach again pointed him out at our 8 o'clock as we were on final and ahead of him. ATC told us; 'if he passes you; don't pass him'. I've never heard of such a clearance. I thought he was going to be staggered slightly behind us; but no; the brasilia caught us and then remained even with us till landing. I think this pilot group has been very understanding and has tried to work with ATC on a lot of issues here in sfo; but it has gotten to the point of being ridiculous. These side by side approaches are unacceptable. From now on; I will be liberal with my own speed adjustments from 8 miles on in and will do what I need to do to get spacing acceptable to me from the guy on the parallel.
