Narrative:
In preflight planning; I looked at aircraft assigned for my 2 flights today. The second leg of the trip was for a flight landing after dark. One of the maintenance deferrals for the aircraft is #2 landing gear control/interface. Halfway through the placard under item #3 lights:'nose gear taxi; runway turnoff; and takeoff lights are inoperative'. I believe that operating at night without proper aircraft lighting would be unwise and unsafe; so I therefore refused the aircraft.
