Narrative:

Pilot was working ny TRACON on frequency 120.05 and had requested TCA clearance overhead jfk at 6500' eastbound. When about 5 mi east of jfk VORTAC pilot surmised controller might have forgotten to initiate handoff to jfk sector controller and queried ATC re: same. Pilot was then instructed to squawk 1200 and maintain VFR. Controller at this time made no remark re: TCA flight, and pilot immediately climbed above 7000-7500' in order to maintain flight clear of TCA.

Title: CLEARED THROUGH THE TCA AND APPARENTLY FLT WAS NOT TURNED OVER TIMELY TO THE NEXT SECTOR.

Narrative: PLT WAS WORKING NY TRACON ON FREQ 120.05 AND HAD REQUESTED TCA CLRNC OVERHEAD JFK AT 6500' EBND. WHEN ABOUT 5 MI E OF JFK VORTAC PLT SURMISED CTLR MIGHT HAVE FORGOTTEN TO INITIATE HDOF TO JFK SECTOR CTLR AND QUERIED ATC RE: SAME. PLT WAS THEN INSTRUCTED TO SQUAWK 1200 AND MAINTAIN VFR. CTLR AT THIS TIME MADE NO REMARK RE: TCA FLT, AND PLT IMMEDIATELY CLBED ABOVE 7000-7500' IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN FLT CLR OF TCA.
