Narrative:
Upon landing a weld on the tailwheel yoke broke. The airplane departed the runway to the right; ran over and broke a runway light and stopped in the grass. I taxied to the hangar and discovered the broken weld and a small four inch tear in the fabric where the plane ran over and broke the runway light. There was a slight crosswind but with no control (the tailwheel yoke controlled the rudder and tailwheel) I was unable to maintain a straight path on the runway.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A Taylorcraft L2 pilot reported that when a weld on the tailwheel failed during landing he lost control of the aircraft; exited the runway and struck a runway light which tore some fuselage fabric.
