Narrative:

Air carrier X was cleared for a visual approach to runway 08L; an air carrier Y was turned base leg and the pilot was told to report the air carrier X or the airport in sight. The pilot reported the airport in sight and was cleared for the visual approach to runway 08L. The E145 turned final on his own and was not told to reduce speed until it was too late and separation was lost. Recommendation; pay more attention to the speed of the aircraft #2 when the pilot does not have the preceding aircraft in sight.
