Narrative:

Mem ground cleared large transport X and large transport Y to cross runway 27 at bravo. I started to cross and noticed large transport Z on takeoff roll. I immediately stopped before entering runway 27. When aircraft taking off was about 75 yds from bravo and I had already stopped, mem ground told X to hold short runway 27. We informed the controller that we were going to file a report on the incident. The controller stated, 'what incident?', and then made no other reply. I later elected to pull the cvr circuit breaker to preserve the tape. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: reporter made a written report to his company about this incident. He had not been made aware of the outcome of the follow up investigation, but assumes that an operational deviation report was filed. Reporter stated that this is a rare occurrence and that this ATC facility has a good reputation with his company's pilots.
