Narrative:

Took off and I was flight attendant #1. I heard; 'fire left engine;' then two dings. Captain called back and said we were going back to gate. I asked if this was an emergency and he said yes; we have 6 minutes to land. We opened over-wing shades; I turned lights to bright and told passengers to discontinue electronic devices; fasten seat belts and stow luggage. We were returning to gate. Then the captain came on and said we had an emergency and were returning to gate. Because of the short amount of time; we could not go through the emergency checklist.
