Narrative:

Climbing out after take off at about 3000 AGL; we got an equipment overheat light. We waited until we were out of 10;000 MSL with the after takeoff checklist complete and then complied with the irregular checklist placing the equipment cooling switch in the standby position. Which completed the checklist at that time. After several minutes the overheat light illuminated again and we once again complied with the checklist placing the switch to override. Several minutes later we got a 'no cooling' EICAS and in accordance with with the checklist we returned to the nearest suitable airport which was our departure station. We declared an emergency and landed without incident.
