Narrative:

We were in a descent to 14000 MSL while diverting around thunderstorms. I was using the autopilot and FMS heading mode to divert around thunderstorms; when I heard the altitude alerter. I looked down at the pfd (primary flight display) expecting to see '1000 to go; altitude select' when I really saw us descending through our altitude. I immediately disengaged the autopilot and pitched up while the captain increased power. I commanded 'push alt select' and we leveled at our assigned altitude of 14000 just as ATC asked us if we were leveling at our assigned altitude and gave us the local altimeter setting.I think the captain and I were both distracted with the thunderstorms visually; with radar; and with the efb's (electronic flight bag) trying to divert around them. So much so; that the proper 'altitude select' calls were not made.
