Narrative:

I was working txk hi-slr hi-uim lo combined; and ZFW was darc (direct access radar channel) only. Afw called for a clearance on air carrier XXXX and air carrier XXXY. Someone had brought the flight information to us but it was presented in a confusing format. I could not ascertain the destination. I told the afw controller I could not give a clearance because D10 overlays their airspace; but I did give him the part of the route; understanding I'd verify it when the aircraft got to my frequency. The afw controller said it was confusing to him as well. I will check the LOA's to see if/what it says about clearances out of the metroplex when ZFW is darc. If there is something there; I don't think many controllers are familiar with the procedure. Further; the flight plan information we get during darc is difficult to understand and should be presented in a format more similar to our flight progress strips. If this can't be accomplished; perhaps a cbi (computer based instruction) should be designed to teach it.
