Narrative:

Aircraft laptops have had support manual removed. The nef (nonessential equipment and furnishings) dmi (damaged; missing; inoperative) list was removed from the laptops. The MEL requires the list so flight crew and dispatch can concur with maintenance when a nef dmi is issued. There is a requirement in the fom to review dmi's but a flight crew member cannot do this with the logbook reference removed and no dmi list to review. On this aircraft nef dmi for a toilet paper case that was broken. A temporary repair was made and not documented. I question if this was a nef item.

Title: An A319 Captain reported the NEF list was removed from the aircraft's laptop database so the crew could not verify with Dispatch and Maintenance that a deferral for a non essential item was legal.
