Narrative:

A mechanic entered cockpit with engine running. We had completed all checklists and started #2 normally. Ground crew then notified us that the ground air door was open so we shut down #2 while they closed the door. We then started #1 and removed gpu. Attempted to start #2 and engine would not light off; so we performed the aborted start procedure. After waiting 3 minutes; we attempted a second start of #2; which also failed. We then notified a mechanic who was sitting in his truck next to the aircraft. We also notified ground crew to reconnect the gpu. Maintenance personnel then approached the aircraft with #1 running and opened the forward cargo door and entered the cockpit. Engine was shut down as soon as gpu reconnected. Mechanic was very rushed and neglected to wait for #1 to shut down before opening forward cargo door. [There were] many distractions in the cockpit including communications with ground crew; maintenance; and operations.
