Narrative:
During climb at about 4000 feet; we heard a loud bang; felt an airframe vibration and noticed tgt indication in excess of red line and engine began spooling down. Performed emergency checklist and procedures; declared emergency and returned to the departure airport without further incident.

Title: A B717 Flight Crew declared an emergency and returned to their departure airport when an engine failed.
Narrative: During climb at about 4000 feet; we heard a loud bang; felt an airframe vibration and noticed TGT indication in excess of red line and engine began spooling down. Performed emergency checklist and procedures; declared emergency and returned to the departure airport without further incident.
