Narrative:
We selected and loaded from the FMC the mustang 7 departure which was the way we were cleared. I was flying the departure and the aircraft made the left turn toward fmg prior to flying over the rijtu intersection which is not charted as a fly over waypoint. Tower asked us if we were tracking the localizer south on the departure and we said we were; but we were already in the left turn towards fmg. We could possibly ask for clarification from ATC whether a waypoint is or is not a fly over waypoint despite how it is charted. In this case; it is not a fly over point.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: An air carrier jet operating in LNAV while on the MUSTANG 7 RNAV SID from RNO turned toward FMG prior to RIJTU waypoint instead of 'flying over' RIJTU as directed by the procedure.
