Narrative:

We had just landed in phl and we were taxiing to the gate. As we taxied in; a fuel truck was driving next to us on our left. As I passed the terminal; the fuel truck suddenly turned to his right directly in front of us. In order for me to avoid hitting him; I had to do an emergency stop. I stood on the brakes bringing the aircraft to a very sudden stop. Once the driver saw us; he also stopped. Then he continued on his way as though nothing had happened. I checked with the flight attendant's to make sure that none of them had fallen down. They told me that everyone was okay just very surprised. When we got to the gate; I called ramp and they gave me the phone number for the fueling company. I talked with a supervisor who said they would look into the matter.
