Narrative:

Refused aircraft for flight due to inbound write up of wing body overheat on the previous takeoff. Previous captain refused aircraft for flight and it was subsequently assigned to me. Maintenance wanted to placard detector system (MEL 26-10) without performing a run up and checking for duct leak(s). Placarding the detector without a thorough investigation of what caused the warning is unacceptable and unsafe. If a captain refuses an aircraft; the aircraft should be taken out of service. Dumping the aircraft on another crew in hopes that they will take the questionable aircraft is nothing more than pilot pushing.
