Narrative:

Medium large transport X wbound 5 mi southeast bur on vector for ILS runway 7 (approximately heading 295 degrees). Small aircraft Y eastbound V186 at 5000'. Small aircraft Y was a handoff from adjacent sector and route of flight took the aircraft over the bur radar antenna. The data tag dropped. In reviewing the tape the small aircraft Y had attempted radio contact, but I hadn't answered because of priorities. I forgot the small aircraft Y and they came 1.1 mi away from one another (diverging). Although I take full responsibility for what happened, there were some contributing factors. 1) it wouldn't have happened (ie, I wouldn't have forgotten the small aircraft Y) had the data tag not dropped off. 2) it wouldn't't have happened had the adjacent sector not asked unnecessarily to descend medium large transport X (I believe they forgot the small aircraft Y also, although they were the sector that had just handed the aircraft off).

Title: APCH CTLR DESCENDED MLG TO ALT OF ENROUTE SMA WITH LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION. DATA TAG DROP AND CTLR FORGOT ABOUT SMA.

Narrative: MLG X WBOUND 5 MI SE BUR ON VECTOR FOR ILS RWY 7 (APPROX HDG 295 DEGS). SMA Y EBND V186 AT 5000'. SMA Y WAS A HDOF FROM ADJACENT SECTOR AND ROUTE OF FLT TOOK THE ACFT OVER THE BUR RADAR ANTENNA. THE DATA TAG DROPPED. IN REVIEWING THE TAPE THE SMA Y HAD ATTEMPTED RADIO CONTACT, BUT I HADN'T ANSWERED BECAUSE OF PRIORITIES. I FORGOT THE SMA Y AND THEY CAME 1.1 MI AWAY FROM ONE ANOTHER (DIVERGING). ALTHOUGH I TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT HAPPENED, THERE WERE SOME CONTRIBUTING FACTORS. 1) IT WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED (IE, I WOULDN'T HAVE FORGOTTEN THE SMA Y) HAD THE DATA TAG NOT DROPPED OFF. 2) IT WOULDN'T'T HAVE HAPPENED HAD THE ADJACENT SECTOR NOT ASKED UNNECESSARILY TO DSND MLG X (I BELIEVE THEY FORGOT THE SMA Y ALSO, ALTHOUGH THEY WERE THE SECTOR THAT HAD JUST HANDED THE ACFT OFF).
