Narrative:

Climbing out at FL200; the right egt got erratic going from 1100 down to zero and then blank and back. The standby engine instruments showed the same readings. All the other right engine instruments indicated normal. The QRH had no guidance for the problem. After talking to dispatch and maintenenace; we opted to return to our departure airport. We dumped fuel in accordance with checklist to minimize our overweight landing. We declared an emergency for the overweight landing. We were 325;000 pounds. We landed smoothly with no problem and terminated the emergency.
