I was asked to relieve a controller. The controller had two aircraft cleared out of pqi airport; one aircraft indicating eight thousand; the other aircraft indicating seven thousand. I was told the aircraft at seven thousand was direct bgr. When the target on air carrier X auto acquired; he was west of the position I was told he was. I immediately climbed the aircraft to 160 from the assigned altitude of seven thousand; the MEA was seven thousand five hundred. The other aircraft was also radar identified and both aircraft were cleared on course respective of altitude. Recommendation; make sure the relief briefing is complete and accurate.
