Narrative:
Trainee assigned crossing to air carrier X; cross benky @ 110; and to air carrier Y cross 10 south of plano @ 120. As aircraft neared each other the controller flipped the altitudes and issued turns. With j-ball they appeared to be at 5 mi and 700 ft.

Title: ZAU Controller described a loss of separation event when Controller reversed the altitude crossing assignments; resulting in the conflict.
Narrative: Trainee assigned crossing to Air Carrier X; Cross Benky @ 110; and to Air Carrier Y cross 10 South of Plano @ 120. As aircraft neared each other the Controller flipped the altitudes and issued turns. With J-Ball they appeared to be at 5 MI and 700 FT.
