Narrative:
Tanker was preforming a takeoff; making all appropriate radio calls. Entered the runway and began the takeoff. About 1/3 of the way down it was noted that there was a car towing a glider entering the runway from the east side (closed runway). A pawnee pilot attempted to contact the vehicle driver to no avail. The tanker had to do a full reverse and hard braking to avoid a conflict. The car was past the edge lines of the runway and proceeded out there after the take-off roll was initiated. This was the second of this type of incidents within a 10 day period.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A SP2H had to reject a takeoff using maximum reverse and hard braking in order to avoid a collision with a vehicle towing a glider across the active runway. The vehicle driver did not have a hand held radio with him.
